Roda de Choro in Seattle
We have missed you all during the pandemic and are working with the Couth Buzzard to get the jam going again. Check back here for details.
Since 2013 Choroloco hosts the Seattle Roda de Choro at Couth Buzzard Books from 2-5 pm.
Every month our choro jam grows and attracts new musicians from all over the Puget Sound Area. We are building a community of choro enthusiasts and invite you to be a part of it. Drop in or stay the whole time.
Our rodas are accessible to jazz, classical, folk musicians…anyone who wants to gather in good company to play music. Whatever instrument you play, you are welcome. Bring your instruments and sheet music to share. Some sheet music is provided. We recommend Choro Songbook Volume 1 by Almir Chediak. It is often in stock at Rosewood Guitar, a local guitar shop just one block away from the Couth Buzzard. It is also available for purchase online.
Thanks to Theo and Couth Buzzard for hosting our roda since October 2013. Couth Buzzard is a local, independent used and new bookstore, cafe, and a performance and community gathering space. Nice people, good food and drinks, and they support the arts in Seattle by hosting visual art, open mics, poetry and book readings, and music jams including our choro roda.
